Silverstack Offload Manager is based on the same software that is used in all of Silverstack’s copy and verification programs. I no longer have to bounce between three programs and babysit things during transcoding.Īt most I’ll go between LiveGrade and SilverStack - and that’s only to spend 30 seconds exporting the archive of looks that the DP and I created, then sending those to SilverStack and (rapidly) applying those looks to the ingested clips to start the transcodes. Very occasionally I’ll have a DP that would rather create the primary looks in Resolve (because I haven’t had time to get them comfortable with the LiveGrade interface) - but I still just quickly export a LUT and a CDL from Resolve and bring it over to LiveGrade/SilverStack because the transcoding tools are smarter and more efficient in SilverStack Lab (and anytime I can automate multiple steps into a single button click is a good thing because it gives me to to focus on something else). The only real downside is that it is a Mac only tool (by if you need ProRes you’re stuck on MacOS anyway unless you want to shell out for Scratch - which is amazing but sort of niche). We were using the Codex Vault XL coupled with a MacBook Pro and 2x 5 Bay RAID 5 Drives. Standalone I was getting around 600MB/s off the RAID Drives. I recall offloading with Shotput Pro and thinking it wasn’t as fast as it should be. So I decided to grab a trial version of Silverstack XT and run some tests. The specifics I have archived in my email but I believe we were getting around 100MB/s faster offloads with Silverstack compared to Shotput Pro.
